The Blue Bird was a dance boat (sometimes referred to as a barge) operated by Montrose M. Ringler, the proprietor of the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. The dance boat plied the waters of the Willmette River for several years as different cities addressed the activities that occured on the boat - dancing, drinking, etc. Eventually, the boat was partially sunk while moored for the winter off Milwaukie.
