On this ‪#‎ThrowBackThursday‬ we offer a ‪#‎springtime‬ view of the famous Ornamental Peach Tree that stood in the ‪#‎CityHall‬ parking lot. The tree, pictured here in the 1960s, originated in China and was planted by ‪#‎Milwaukie‬ pioneer Seth Lewelling. Today we throwback as we get ready for this weekend's ‪#‎ArborDay‬ and ‪#‎EarthDay‬ activities - part of the City's efforts to be designated a ‪#‎TreeCityUSA‬. Be sure to check out the list of events here: http://ow.ly/4mX8JZ ‪#‎MilwaukieTBT‬ ‪#‎HistoricMilwaukie‬ ‪#‎PeachTree‬ Photo Credit: the ‪#‎MilwaukieHistoricalSociety‬ - visit them on Facebook here: http://ow.ly/UioOe ‪#‎OregonHeritage‬ Beyond the tree, check out the cool 1960s cars and view of the blocks south of City Hall – including the back of what was Hamilton’s Furniture (now Dark Horse Comics) on the right, and Milwaukie Lumber on the left. This shot from the City Hall parking lot is just west of last week’s #TBT photo from 21st Avenue which also looked south.
