113 years ago this week the State Assembly and Governor George Chamberlain took action to incorporate the Town of Milwaukie (the State Senate took 2 more years, but that's another story...) So, in honor of this anniversary we're posting a classy City Council ‪#‎TBT‬ photo. This picture includes 3 Councilors, City Manager Jack Tabor (in the middle with thick mustache), and Mayor Fred Sperr (second from the right) - these civic leaders were decked out for the ‪#‎Milwaukie‬ Centennial Celebrataion in 1947. Jack Tabor was our 2nd City Manager serving from 1947-1949, the position having been added to the City Charter in 1944. Fred Sperr was one of those ‪#‎Milwaukians‬ who wore many hats - becoming well known in the community for his thick Germanic accent and as a beloved school bus driver... he served as a City Councilor from 1941-1945, Mayor from 1945-1952, and City Manager from 1952-1955. ‪#‎MilwaukieTBT‬ ‪#‎HistoricMilwaukie‬ ‪#‎community‬ ‪#‎centennial‬ ‪#‎anniversaries‬ ‪#‎CityCouncil‬ ‪#‎CityManager‬ in ‪#‎TopHats‬ and ‪#‎CoatTails‬ and ‪#‎mustaches‬ Photo Credit: Our Partners at the ‪#‎MilwaukieHistoricalSociety‬ - visit them on Facebook here: http://ow.ly/UioOe ‪#‎OregonHeritage
