FUN FACT: there are 2 types of boosters referenced in #Milwaukie #CityCouncil Minutes... one being a booster pump for municipal water systems, the other relating to a downtown business group active in the 1960s. The later is this week's swell #ThrowBackThursday graphic of the Milwaukie Boosters logo featuring a chap ready to "boost" the community. Council Minutes show that in 1963 and 1964 the #MilwaukieBoosters, led by future Mayor Bill Hupp, alerted City leaders to issues on Main Street related to littering and truck loading zones. The result of their efforts was the installation of trash receptacles and a public discussion about delivery truck loading zones. Later, Council expressed their trust in the Boosters by giving the group the City's overhead holiday banner to decorate Main Street for the holidays. It's community partnerships like these that have made Our City the great place that it is today!
