It's beginning to look a lot like... #TBT! Happy Thursday #Milwaukie! This week we head back to 1957 and east of Hwy 224 to an aerial view of the Wells (Wills) Air Field, owned and operated by local hardware store merchant Zon Wells. Located where Fieldcrest Drive now sits in the Lewelling Neighborhood, the runway stretched from 42nd Avenue east to about 49th Avenue. Wells Field was a dirt airstrip that was home to several small private aircraft from the 1920s until the property was developed into housing in the 1960s. The photo shows the air field and other prominent landmarks in NE Milwaukie - including the municipal water reservoir at 40th Avenue and Harvey Street and Johnson Creek cutting across the top of the photo.
