Welcome to ‪#‎ThrowBackThursday‬ ‪#‎Milwaukie‬! This week's photo features one of pioneer nurseryman Seth Lewelling's original Chinese Ornamental Peach Trees. The tree in the photo was planted by Lewelling in 1869 and was moved to the ‪#‎CityHall‬ parking lot in 1955 (the featured photo dates to the mid-1960s). Despite many attempts to keep it alive the tree died in 1987 and members of Boy Scout Troop 144 turned pieces of the fallen tree into the Mayor's Gavel and a picture frame that displays information about Lewelling and the tree in the Mayor's office. ‪#‎TBT‬ ‪#‎MilwaukieTBT‬ ‪#‎HistoricMilwaukie‬ ‪#‎WeAreMilwaukie‬ ‪#‎OrnamentalPeachTree‬
